There are many opportunities to volunteer here at Friedman Place! We welcome volunteers who want to come regularly or those who would like for a single event.
Some things individual volunteers do:
- Facilitate activities such as crossword puzzles
- Read out loud to residents
- Perform a musical recital
- Assist Activity staff in facilitating activities
- Help in the Therapeutic Weaving Studio (experience weaving not required!)
- Be a guide for residents who want to go on walks outside
Some things groups of volunteers can do:
- Host games, such as bingo
- Be guides for residents on community outings to museums, bowling alleys, or parks
- Assist Activity staff in facilitating a special activity
- Host a party or help out at a special event
We also welcome groups sponsoring different activities and events!
- Sponsor a pizza party
- Collect gifts for residents to celebrate birthdays and holidays or just because!
Please note that volunteers who come to Friedman Place regularly or who interact with residents without staff supervision will be expected to pass a background check. All volunteers will have an orientation to the organization and supporting visually impaired people as well as an orientation to the tasks they will do during their time volunteering.
