Opening: Clerical Administrator
Schedule: This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position but the Agency will consider 30 hours for the right candidate. Preferred schedule is Tuesday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm & Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm but will consider weekdays only for the right candidate.
Description: The Clerical Administrator has a key role within the organization, primarily supporting back-office activities such as basic bookkeeping, enrolling residents in public benefits like Medicaid, tracking rent payments to and from the Agency, onboarding new employees, administering payroll (the Agency uses ADP), general human resources, and some support of the front desk.
Compensation: $19.25 – $21.63 per hour ($40,000 – $45,000 annually) plus excellent benefits, including heavily subsidized health insurance; 20 paid days off and 6 paid holidays annually to new full-time employees; 401k retirement contributions (after 2 years); education & license reimbursement; discounts on products and services; gym membership subsidy, flexible spending account, discounted meals, etc. and a friendly & casual work atmosphere
Experience with QuickBooks preferred; experience with related software packages and proficiency in office computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, etc. required.
Bachelor’s degree and one-year experience in matters related to human resources, preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication and customer service and relations skills
Very high level of organizational and time-management skills

Located on the northwest side of Chicago, Friedman Place is a nonprofit residential community that serves adults who are blind. Each resident lives in their own apartment – there are 81 in the building. The building is specially designed for people who are blind. Staff, specially trained to work with adults who are blind, provides a wide range of services designed so residents lead as full and as independent lives as possible.
