For Adults who are Blind or Visually Impaired

Description: The Case Manager provides a range of case management and related services
to adults who are blind and either residents of Friedman Place or living elsewhere in the
community (e.g., their own apartment). Services are provided in-person at our main
building or by phone, video, email, etc. (i.e., no home-visits). This is a part-time position:
16 hours per week over two weekdays, either 9am – 5pm or 8am – 4pm. The hours and
specific days are flexible and may change over time based on the successful applicant’s
needs and interests.

Compensation: $20 – $23 per hour plus 8 paid days off, free meals, a friendly and casual
work atmosphere, etc.

Primary Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field – will consider masters-level as well
• At least two years case management or related experience
• Experience working with people who are blind and/or disabled a plus
• Proficiency in office computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse
individuals and groups. Very high level of organizational and time-management skills and other
skills and abilities necessary to provide the responsibilities and requirements outlined above.
• Valid driver’s license

Located on the northwest side of Chicago, Friedman Place is a nonprofit residential community
that serves adults who are blind. Each resident lives in their own apartment – there are 81 in the
building. The building is specially designed for people who are blind. Staff, specially trained to
work with adults who are blind, provides a wide range of services designed so residents lead as full and as independent lives as possible.
