Sexuality and Aging
Thursday, February 23, 2017
5527 N. Maplewood
By 2030, an estimated 20% of the US population will be over the age of 65. As individuals live longer and healthier lives, many remain sexual into their later years. To be effective, providers must have an understanding and appreciation of aging sexuality. This presentation will offer an overview on sexuality among older adults with unique considerations around sexual expression in seniors. Participants will identify sexuality related difficulties in the elderly and develop an understanding of ways to assess and treat sexual problems within this population.
Asya Brodsky, LCSW, CADC works in the public sector and maintains a private practice specializing in sexuality and sexual expression. Asya is native Russian speaker with experience treating diverse populations across the lifespan. Asya is the founder of Speak Chicago Psychotherapy, a fellow at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis, and co-leader of the Chicago Sex Therapist Network.
