Friedman Place is sponsored by the Association of Jewish Blind of Chicago, which has provided residential services for the blind and visually impaired for more than fifty years. We have a synagogue within the facility, which is also available for religious services of any denomination. Our facility is open to blind and visually impaired adults, regardless of economic, race, ethnic, or religious background.

The monthly fee is surprisingly affordable and varies with the size of the apartment. It includes all of the services described: Three meals daily plus snacks; all utilities, except telephone and cable service; twice-weekly housekeeping; laundry service; assistance with transportation; personal assistance with activities of daily living; medication reminders and monitoring; 24-hour emergency response system; and a variety of activities and recreational programs. Telephone, cable, and beauty or barber services are available for a reasonable cost. Someone in the marketing office will be happy to talk with you about fees.

A financial assistance program is available to those who qualify, making Friedman Place affordable to all individuals with impaired vision. Please ask our staff about financial assistance.
